@TravelingTerry loves exploring the world and is particularly partial to the UK. Having met Terry at World Travel Market in 2024, we arranged for her to include a trip to Wales in her planned 6 week workation early in 2025 – you can find out all that she got up to on her website.
When she visited Wales, she started in Cardiff, meeting Sian from Loving Welsh Food for a foodie tour around the Victorian and Edwardian arcades and the market. Then it was a tour of the castle before taking a look around the National Museum Cardiff and then heading over to Llanerch Vineyard for the night. You can see her highlights in this video.
Day 2 took Terry to Hensol Castle Distillery and then the Royal Mint Experience and A Welsh Coal Mining Experience – which together form “Coins, Coal and Cheers” package. Then it was off to Nantgarw China Works Museum and a night in Abergavenny at The Angel Hotel. You can see her highlights in this video.
Day 3, her last day started off with a walk around Abergavenny where she loved spending time trying on hats! It was then off to Raglan Castle and to Wales Perfumery near Monmouth where Louise showed her how to create unique scent inspired by the landscape. You can see her highlights in this video.
Having explored other parts of the UK and returned to the USA, Terry came back to Wales in May, Visit 2! This time with her new British boyfriend – the start of another great story.
On this visit she went back to Hensol Castle Distillery to enjoy the full tasting and making experience. Then it was off to Dyffryn Gardens before exploring Cowbridge, having dinner and then staying overnight at Bryn Meadows Hotel and Spa.
We were determined to show her the wide variety of things that you can do in Southern Wales so on Day 2 she visited Caerphilly Castle, and took a scenic route over the hills (seeing lots of sheep – which she loved) to Cyfarthfa Castle and the on to Blaenavon UNESCO World Heritage Landscape, where she saw the steam trains running through the valley before heading underground at Big Pit National Coal Museum. It was an action-packed day!
What Terry thought of her visit, "Working with Visit Southern Wales has been an incredible experience. The team is thoughtful, organized, and genuinely passionate about showcasing the region in a meaningful way. From castles and coastal views to unique hands-on experiences, Southern Wales offers such a rich variety of moments to capture and share. Each visit has given me something new to experience and bring back to my audience, and it’s been an absolute pleasure to collaborate."
There are lots of posts about her visit on her Instagram page.
