Get to know more about Southern Wales in 2025 & 2026

Southern Wales were delighted to welcome travel trade contacts and Visit Britain colleagues from the Nordic countries and France to the region earlier this year - the French party explored Cardiff, the capital of Wales whilst the Nordic party visited Cardiff before exploring the rest of the region including places like Caerphilly Castle, Penderyn Distillery and Abergavenny - gathering new ideas for 2025/2026.  Southern Wales also showed members of the Jan Redler Travel and Tourism team around the area in early spring - updating their product knowledge and introducing them to new destinations such as White Castle Vineyard, the Wye Valley Sculpture Garden, the Newport Medieval Ship and Guardian - you can read all about their visit on the company blog. We've also had lots of opportunities to speak to contacts around the UK and internationally - presenting new ideas for future visits. If you'd like to take a virtual look around the region or visit the region for a first hand taster of what is on offer then get in touch - we'd love to work with you.

Guides bring Wales to life

The Wales Official Tour Guide Association has recently updated its website and now you can search for the perfect guide to lead your tour, by regional, interest and language; we have guides who can lead in BLS, Welsh, Dutch, Italian, German and many other languages. All guides have a wide knowledge about Wales and special interests include the religious sites of Wales, the industrial story of the country and golf - to mention just a few.

Engaging a guide to lead a walk across the region will ensure that your group has a very special (and safe) experience. Wales Outdoors is celebrating its 30th year of helping visitors explore Wales, and Andy, the owner and guide loves taking people into the great outdoors at any time of year. Check their website for walk and tour ideas across the region - from castles to waterfalls and foraging to serious adventures.

Food is always an important part of any day out or holiday, so why not join a tour that focuses on showing off some of Wales' tastiest treats? Sian, who runs Loving Welsh Food, loves nothing better than to take you on a tour of the Victorian Arcades in Cardiff, stopping at the Welsh cake makers, the cheese shop and other special producers. These tours have been voted one of the best city tours in the UK by Time Out magazine. We also have specialist, local or White Badge guides, who will really help you discover the story of a community. An example is

Bethan, known as Past Port Tours who specialises in helping people explore Newport. She has regular Welcome to Newport tours where you'll be introduced to stories of the early industrial port, the Chartists who died campaigning for the vote in 1839 and the amazing Newport Transporter Bridge which is due to reopen later this year along with its new visitor centre - loads of fascinating stories.

This months newsletter focuses on how guides can add so much to your trip - as individuals or as a group. You can see the original newsletter here.

Do get in touch if we can help you plan your visit to Southern Wales.
