Castle, Museum and Cardiff Bay

Cardiff, the capital of Wales is a compact city meaning that you can pack a lot into just one day. This day tour gives you a taste of the city centre and Cardiff Bay, but you could spend a whole week exploring in depth the attractions and history or Cardiff and the immediate surrounding area.

Stop 1National Museum Cardiff has amazing art collections and displays about Wales. You can easily spend a couple of hours exploring the extensive galleries as well asthe museum exhibits and there is also a regular programme of events and activities. Lunch Stop. Closed Mondays.

Stop 2Cardiff Castle stands at the very centre of Wales’ capital — a historic fortress set within green parkland, surrounded by shops, cafés and city streets. Few castles in the world sit so closely alongside modern urban life, ensuring that Cardiff Castle is one of the most distinctive visitor attractions in the UK.

With nearly 2,000 years of history contained within its walls, the castle offers a unique introduction to Cardiff itself. From Roman defenses and medieval towers to lavish Victorian interiors, every era has left its mark on this remarkable site.

Stop 3Cardiff Boat Tours offers a range of waterside experiences linking Cardiff Castle with Cardiff Bay, and around the Bay, so add a boat trip to your day.

Stop 4 – Take a walk around Cardiff Bay and call into the Norwegian Church which was a former Norwegian Sailors Church and is now one of the landmark buildings on the Bay and has panoramic views over the waterfront.  A great coffee stop.

Stop 5 – As you continue your walk around the Bay call into the Wales Millennium Centre. The most popular tour takes you behind the scenes of this iconic building, walking in the footsteps of the stars. Nearby you can also visit the Craft in the Bay or Pierhead Building.
