Guides bring the story of Tredegar and the NHS to life

Did you know that the iron and coal town of Tredegar inspired the establishment of the National Health Service in 1948? Nye Bevan, the then Minister for Health and Housing, was from Tredegar and witnessed how the Tredegar Medical Aid Society provided health services free at the point of need. This became the key principle of the NHS.

Around the town are buildings that played a part in Aneurin becoming a politician. Many have fascinating stories waiting to be told by a group of newly trained local guides, who have been working with Wales Best Guides to create fascinating new tours. Why not include in your next visit to Southern Wales? Check the website for more information.
