Description

What lies beneath the surface of our rivers?

Join storyteller Corinne Harragin for Troubled Waters, a captivating spoken-word performance weaving together ancient folklore, mythology and contemporary stories of our waterways.

Leaping salmon, fishtail women, mythical raves and sacred springs come together in a vibrant tapestry of tales that explores our deep and often surprising relationship with rivers, wetlands and the creatures and communities that depend upon them.

Drawing on extensive research into lesser-known folklore and mythology, Corinne brings ancient stories into conversation with the challenges facing our rivers today. As Britain and Ireland's waterways face increasing pollution and pressure, Troubled Waters asks us to look afresh at these vital landscapes — and to consider what new connections might emerge when we listen to the stories beneath the surface.

Created and performed by Corinne Harragin, this is an enchanting, thought-provoking and often playful journey through water, myth and memory.
