Description

Pride Cymru is Wales’s largest LGBTQ+ pride festival, held annually in Cardiff to celebrate diversity, equality and inclusion while supporting the LGBTQ+ community across Wales. What began in 1985 as a small march has grown into a vibrant multi-day event that attracts over 50,000 visitors to the Welsh capital each June, combining a colourful pride parade through the city centre with a lively festival of live music, drag and cabaret performances, DJs, community stalls and family-friendly activities in and around Coopers Field and Cardiff Castle.

Organised by a volunteer-led charity dedicated to campaigning against discrimination and promoting acceptance across sexual orientation, gender, race, religion and ability, Pride Cymru not only brings people together for joyous celebration but also highlights ongoing struggles for equality and visibility. The pride weekend typically includes performances from national and international artists alongside local talent, dedicated spaces and activities for children and families, food and drink stalls, and opportunities to connect with LGBTQ+ organisations and allies.

The event centres on a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere that encourages everyone — regardless of background — to take part in the parade and festivities, and often features enhanced accessibility provisions, community exhibitions and spaces like a dedicated faith tent to reflect the full diversity of attendees.
