Caldicot Castle is now closed for the season, and will reopen on April 1st 2022.
The country park remains open to all and our car park is operating from 8:30am – 7:30pm every day. The toilets in the country park are also open 8.30am - 4.30pm.

You will be able to travel through time and discover the home of Welsh castle life, from medieval times to the twentieth century.The castle was developed as a fortress by Royal hands in the Middle Ages and restored as a Victorian family home. The River Nedern winds its way through the park, and the wildlife pond is home to a variety of wildfowl.
You can see the 12 pounder muzzle-loading HMS Foudroyant’s cannon in our courtyard. Come and unravel the mysteries of the dark chilling castle dungeon. Caldicot Castle is reputed to be haunted by a number of ghosts. Who will you see before you leave?
The Castle's tower is one of the best places to view the Severn estuary. The castle was built on a spur of sandstone to control the River Nedern flowing nearby. The river was once a tidal estuary navigable for several miles upstream.
