Men’s European Hockey World Cup Qualifiers – What is it?
The FIH Men’s European World Cup Qualifiers is a four-day hockey tournament where eight teams compete to qualify for the Hockey World Cup.

Each team will play three matches, providing a total of 12 exciting hockey games to watch!

The teams that finish first and second qualify for the 2023 Hockey World Cup in India.

When and where?
The Hockey World Cup Qualifiers run from Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th October 2021. There will be a total of 12 matches played: four on the 21st ; two on the 22nd ; two on the 23rd ; four on the 24th.

How to get tickets
Tickets are on sale on the Hockey Wales website. There are a range of ticket options available, from day tickets to full tournament passes.

Children under 11 go free, and there are discounts for families, group bookings, and Hockey Wales Club Members.

What teams will be competing?
Teams qualified for the World Cup Qualifiers at the EuroHockey Championships held earlier in the year.

The teams that finished 6th to 8th at the EuroHockey Championship in Amsterdam, and the teams that came 1st to 5th at the EuroHockey Championships II in Gniezno, will be competing in Cardiff. These are:
• Wales
• Russia
• France
• Ireland
• Scotland
• Poland
• Italy
• Austria

Is it suitable for children?
Yes! Hockey is a fast-paced team game so is always exciting to watch, no matter your age. As well as getting to watch international hockey live, you’ll also get to see Welsh Olympians Rupert Shipperley and Jacob Draper in action for Wales!

Alongside the hockey, there will be vendors on site selling food and drink, hockey related games, music playing between matches, paperless raffles, and QR codes to scan to win prizes.

In general, it will be a great family day out and the perfect opportunity to introduce children to a new, fun sport.

Is the event COVID safe?
All necessary precautions will be taken to ensure the tournament follows the Welsh government COVID-19 guidelines.
