Welsh Language
Although the English language is widely spoken in Wales, the country has its own language that, despite many struggles, survives to this day. Welsh is spoken by around 25% of the population and that number continues to grow. It is a Celtic language and one of the oldest languages in Europe. You will undoubtedly come across the language on your visit to Southern Wales whether overhearing a conversation in a shop or pub or an announcement at a train station or simply by looking at the road signs.
