Sport
Southern Wales has a great reputation for staging world class sporting events.
Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium is the centre point for a lot of the action. The magnificent arena is home to the Welsh National Rugby and football teams. Such is the design of the stadium the atmosphere inside is electric and the city centre location means that on match days there is a carnival atmosphere on the streets outside. As well as hosting rugby and football the stadium has played host to many different sports including cricket, speedway and motocross and has even hosted a stage of the Wales Rally.
If you prefer your sporting action to be on four legs then you should visit Chepstow Racecourse. Wales’ national racecourse is set in the beautiful Wye Valley and is home to some top class racing including the Welsh Grand National and Welsh Champion Hurdle.
There’s also plenty of other local sport to keep the avid fan happy. Cardiff City Football Club play in the Coca Cola Championship, the Blues and the Dragons play in Rugby’s Celtic League, the Celtic Crusaders play in Rugby League’s National League while Glamorgan County Cricket Club and Cardiff Devils Ice Hockey team also attract a healthy following.
