Southern Wales is a food lover’s paradise with local delicacies to suit all tastes.

You may be surprised to learn the Southern Wales is gaining a reputation for producing some excellent wine. The Sugar Loaf Vineyard near Abergavenny and Llanerch Vineyard in the Vale of Glamorgan, which produces Cariad wine, are the notable producers. If you prefer something a little stronger then why not try some Penderyn Whisky – made near Hirwaun using spring water from the Brecon Beacons.

The Abergavenny and Cowbridge Food Festivals enable you to get a taste of the fabulous range of fayre available in Wales straight from the producer while the Clytha Arms near Abergavenny and The Bell Inn at Caerleon host Cider and Beer festivals which showcase the best in traditional Welsh drinks.

If you fancy something a little bit different why not try a Welsh banquet at Cardiff Castle or Caldicot Castle. Your hosts dressed in traditional costume will serve your food and entertain you in an evening full of Hwyl
