Entertainment
Cardiff Bay’s Millennium Centre is Wales’ flagship performing arts centre. Opened in 2004 the centre hosts a varied programme of entertainment from world-class opera, ballet, musicals and comedy as well as informal musical performances in the foyer most days.
Overlooking the Golden Coast, the Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl has pride of place on the resort’s seafront. It hosts a range of concerts including the annual Elvis Festival each autumn.
There are also many theatres throughout the region’s towns with musical and comedy performances from well-known international stars and local entertainers. Cardiff’s New Theatre and St David’s Hall, Newport’s Riverfront Theatre, Abergavenny’s Borough Theatre and the Beaufort Theatre in Ebbw Vale are just a few of the many venues available. Its also well worth a visit to the Cardiff International Arena if you want to catch a performance by an international pop groups or well known comedians.
Not only a sporting venue, Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium, is now well known as a major arena for some of the biggest acts in World Music. U2, Manic Street Preachers, Madonna, The Eagles and the massive Tsunami Relief Concert are just some of the biggest events to take place at the Stadium.
